Implementing PM Practices in Skeptical Organizations
with Douglas.M. Brown, PhD, PgMP
Audience: Anyone from the C-suite to Project Managers
PMI Talent Triangle: 1 PDU: Technical Project Management
Are you struggling to implement project or portfolio management practices in your organization? Do people seem to be avoiding things that aren’t much more than common sense … and perhaps it even feels as though they’re starting to avoid you, too? Are you starting to doubt whether the best practices you were trained on don’t really work? (Spoiler alert: the problem’s not the medicine. It’s the dosage and the treatment).
Dr. Brown will provide a brief overview of the key principles and action steps that make up the Simmer System (SM) he has created to help project or program managers – or line executives – bring the needed discipline into their organizations without tearing them apart. Then we’ll spend the majority of the time discussing one of the System’s key components: the Collaborative Agreements that can get you to level 3 maturity without really trying to do that.
The discussion will be based on Dr. Brown’s book, “Let It Simmer: Making Project, Portfolio and Program Management Practices Stick in a Skeptical Organization”.
